DESCRIPTION:Join local artist Jack Hobe  for an introduction to nature journaling! This is a method used by real-life scientists and naturalists to collect data and do their work in the field\, but it is also a great way for anyone to make a connection with our natural world. This is a practice that anybody can participate in\, regardless of their artistic ability. Guests will learn how to tap into their creativity by incorporating diagrams\, maps\, notations\, and many other disciplines into their journaling\, using materials provided by the zoo! \n\n\n\nRegistration is Required. Registration is $5 per individual or group of up to 4 people. We start with tricks for capturing birds on paper before they fly away\, using posture\, proportions and angles\, then take a look at ways to simplify birds’ feathers\, wings\, tails and feet. Birds can be challenging and feisty subjects to draw\, but Jack’s passion for birding\, nature sketching and journaling will help attendees to demystify feather patterns\, movements\, form and behavior. Join local naturalist-artist Jack Hobe for an evening talk about the basics of nature journaling (observation\, questioning and connecting) as well as a live demonstration using a nature object. Jack will discuss his background\, passion for nature art and techniques he uses to look more closely at the natural world. Participants are encouraged to have with them a nature object (fruit\, vegetable\, flower\, leaf\, feather\, pinecone\, etc.) and paper and pencil so they can follow along as he creates a journal page in real time! We will be selling notecards\, fine art prints\, bookmarks\, stickers\, and notepads featuring Jack Hobe’s original nature-inspired watercolors! There will also be lots of other vendors attending with unique products that include handmade jewelry\, upcycled and repurposed goods\, and artisan crafts. \n\n\n\nMcConkey’s Market is held in the heart of Washington Crossing Historic Park (PA). The park marks the site where George Washington made his heroic Christmas Day crossing of the river. Vendors are surrounded by the park’s Colonial-era buildings against the backdrop of the beautiful Delaware River.
