General Workshop Details:

Duration: Variable, 1.5 hours minimum, 2 hours suggested
Suggested number of participants: 10-20
Location: I am available to present in-person for your organization located in the Mid-Atlantic region (NY, PA, NJ, MD, DE), or remotely through Zoom. My programs require a classroom with slide projector/monitor and tables/chairs.
Availability: I generally teach programs on Saturdays due to my other commitments throughout the week, but may be available on select weekdays. Please contact me with the dates you have in mind and I will let you know my availability for that specific time frame.
My programs are ideal for: nature centers, zoos, nature sanctuaries, wildlife preserves, national parks, state parks, native plant centers, arboretums, homeschool groups, churches, senior centers, and birding groups. Sketching techniques I teach are easy to learn for both beginners and advanced artists. Content is targeted towards teens, adults and seniors.
I have several standard workshop topics available to be presented, including: How to Draw Songbirds, Field Sketching for Birders, How to Draw Raptors, How to Draw Owls, How to Draw Vultures, How to Draw Waterfowl, Drawing Wildflowers, Introduction to Watercolors for Field Sketching, Introduction to Nature Journaling, Introduction to Birding. I am not currently developing any new or custom workshop topics.
My typical workshops consist of a 1.5 – 2 hour interactive and demonstrative lecture focusing on practical sketching techniques for nature subjects (especially birds, plants and insects) that are approachable for all skill levels. The audience is actively involved throughout the program, with many opportunities to practice techniques from easy-to-follow step-by-step demonstrations, photographs and videos. I also sometimes incorporate bird/sketching walks into a program to add the element of an outdoor practice session with live subjects.
Instructor Fee: Fee is based on the final number of registrations on the day of the workshop: 5-10 participants = $250 fee, 11-15 participants = $350 fee, 16-20 participants = $450 fee. I may also include travel expenses (mileage) in the fee if travel distance to venue is longer than 1 hour. Suggested fee to charge for registration is $40-50/person.
Rescheduling/Cancellation: I require notification a minimum of 1 week prior to the workshop date if you would like to reschedule or cancel. Minimum registration is 5 people for a class to move forward.
