Learn to draw wildflowers and native plants in this nature sketching workshop with naturalist-artist Jack Hobe! This program will provide an overview of techniques to accurately portray wildflowers coupled with opportunities to sketch real native plants featured in the sanctuary’s Native Plant Sale. We will begin with the initial steps of creating a light framework to guide your final drawing, using simple circles and cones to represent complex flower shapes. Jack will then present some tips for capturing curling petals and leaves, as well as zooming in and out when deciding which part of the plant to sketch. Feel free to browse around the native plant sale before the program and purchase a plant to sketch! Participants are required to bring a sketchbook, pencil or pen, and colored pencils or watercolor (if desired).
