Meadow and Pollinator Watercolors

August 15 @ 9:00 am 11:00 am

Note: The link to register for this event has not been posted yet. I will update this page with the link to the BHWP website where you can sign up once it is posted.

Join naturalist-artist Jack Hobe for a relaxing morning learning to use watercolor paints and playing with techniques for capturing pollinators on paper at the beautiful grounds of Bowman’s Hill Wildflower Preserve! Participants will learn basic introductory watercolor techniques, including recommendations for best tools and paints, how to mix colors, how to apply color to the page, how to create washes and detail, and layering colors. We will also cover some gesture sketching techniques for sketching pollinators like bees and butterflies, and look at some insect anatomy to help in creating accurate drawings! Then we’ll tie it all together by using a pollinator drawing as a watercolor painting subject.

This class is suitable for all skill levels – beginner to advanced artist. However, all participants will be required to provide their own watercolor paints, waterbrush, palette, paper and pencils, and supplies must be portable enough to carry in a bag for this workshop. Here is a recommended list of supplies to get you started:
