Drawing Songbirds at Morris Arboretum (Part 1 of How to Draw Birds Series)
April 18 @ 10:00 am – 12:00 pm

This workshop is part of a series and takes place over multiple weekends – see below:
- April 18 (10am-12pm) – Drawing Songbirds at Morris Arboretum (Part 1)
- May 23 (10am – 12pm) – Drawing Raptors at Morris Arboretum (Part 2)
- June 20 (10am – 12pm) – Drawing Waterfowl at Morris Arboretum (Part 3)
Learn how to draw the songbirds in your backyard in this workshop taught by naturalist and wildlife illustrator Jack Hobe! We start with tricks for capturing birds on paper before they fly away, using posture, proportions and angles, then take a look at ways to simplify birds’ feathers, wings, tails and feet. Passerines can be challenging and feisty subjects to draw, but Jack’s passion for birding, nature sketching and journaling will help attendees to demystify feather patterns, movements, form and behavior. No art or drawing experience required—all skill levels are welcome! Bring a sketchbook or paper, pencil, and colored pencils / watercolor (if desired).
